While a student at the University of Mississippi in the 1980s, Wiley Martin was an inspiration to fellow students, athletes and coaches because of his enduring spirit to remain optimistic and independent despite living with cerebral palsy. After receiving the news of terminal cancer that had spead to his lungs, his last wish was to see the new basketball arena at the University of Mississippi. Fellow alumni worked to make that dream come true and had a welcoming for him in February. He shares his feelings about his life with two of his favorite coaches, former Mississippi football coach, Billy Brewer, left and former University of Southern Mississippi basketball coach James Green.
